Can Chocolate be a slimming agent?

Danish researchers are going to introduce dark chocolates with flax seeds and chilli which increases the metabolism:

Chilli
Imagine a chocolate, which both fill you up, tastes good and that increases the body's burning.
It sounds too good to be true, but it is nevertheless just such a chocolate, which a team of Danish researchers from the University of Copenhagen in the pipeline.
"It would be interesting if ordinary people could use chocolate as a feature in their diet and thus may have to eat less," says Prof. dr. with. Arne Astrup, head of the Department of Human Nutrition at LIFE, University of Copenhagen. He is the prime mover in the development of chocolate.
Arne Astrup and colleagues researcher quite comprehensive in obesity and trying to invent ways to combat it. The research group has in this respect long had an eye for dark chocolate that contains the satiating fat stearic acid and a caffeine-like substance   theobromine and caffeine, which belongs to the group of metylxanthinalkaloider.
Flax seeds
"To get the chocolate to feed extra good, we put some Flax seeds in. The advantage of these fibers is that in addition to saturate also binds some of the fat from food in the gut. The same is the calcium present in the chocolate. By mixing flax seeds with chocolate, we think that could bind some of the fat from the chocolate, so the body does not absorb it, "says Arne Astrup, who points out that the University has patented the use of flax seeds to saturate and bind fat.Theobromine stimulates the central nervous system by releasing epinephrine. This substance has long been known as his excellent ability to increase the body's burning, especially if mixed with chilli and green tea.
Desserts and sweets for the obese and diabetic patients often contain substances in large quantities can have unfortunate side effects, but it does not apply to the ingredients in the new dark chocolate. A clear advantage is that its filling, slimming ingredients in itself is completely harmless.
Experimental tests
"Chilli, linseed and calcium, there is nothing special about. As a consumer you avoid, therefore, to worry about unwanted side effects.Chili makes even chocolate sweet by giving it a good, long finish. Moreover linseed nutty flavor, "says Arne Astrup.
The taste is extremely important that the chocolate is going to be gaining ground, so the researchers have done a lot to make chocolates, as ordinary people like. The experiments conducted by researchers in large well-stocked kitchen, in addition to a chef also houses some of Denmark's most talented chefs. In addition, nutrition assistants, who have a great insight into the raw materials that go into a higher unity.
"We have experimented with making chocolates in various shapes, and ended up with a handful of different kinds. After the experiments have been on standby for a few years, we now start to test in experiments to determine whether they have the desired effect on the body, "says Arne Astrup.

Facts

Stearic acid, octadecanoic acid also known by its chemical name CH3 (CH2) 16COOH, there is a white crystalline mass: mp. 69-71 ° C. Stearic acid, which has a slight odor tallowy, is present as its ester with glycerol in the vegetable and animal fats and oils. The compound is prepared by enzymatic cleavage and the fat used in the same manner as stearin.
Experiments is to accommodate a bunch of ordinary people in some special trial chambers through one day. During 24 hours measure the researchers through various means of measuring the subjects' combustion by measuring the room changes of oxygen and carbon dioxide, which indirectly reveal the truth about how quickly the body burns calories and secretes. The chambers are also equipped with a special toilet that analyzes people's feces and urine.
"We give participants a plain dark chocolate one day and our newly invented chocolate the other and then we measure their caloric intake, combustion and how many calories they are losing with the stools. Then we can see if our chocolate actually have the beneficial effect on the body, as we expect it to have, "says Arne Astrup.
A creative input to industry
Studies suggest that stearic acid fat in the diet only admitted by 90 percent to perhaps 10 percent of stearic oily smoke out with the stools, and if we could increase this kalorietab to 30 percent by adding calcium and flax seeds, so it starts to really look like anything.
QuoteWe began work on the chocolate because I was fascinated by the fact that dark chocolate saturates as well. Why is it so unhealthy to have a penchant for chocolate.
- Prof. Dr. Med. Arne Astrup
"Then it just before that one could argue that chocolate could be used as a slimming agent," says Arne Astrup.
Arne Astrup emphasizes that he and his research group have not invented the chocolates to make money - they just hope that the industry will be inspired by their research, which may engage in cooperation, so that as many people as possible can put teeth into chocolate which saturates and slim in place of the fat.
